Week of Legends at the New Beverly Cinema!

It's a week of legends at the New Beverly Cinema, starting November 13 with The Legend of the 7 Golden Vampires; Ridley Scott's Legend November 14 - 17; and, last but not least, The Legend of Billie Jean will be screening Saturday November 17 at midnight. The Legend of the 7 Golden Vampires features Peter Cushing of Star Wars-Grand-Moff-Tarkin fame as well as Hong Kong stars David Chiang and Szu Shih. Legend, of course, sports a young Tom Cruise, not to mention Tim Curry as the Lord of Darkness, David Bennent of the The Tin Drum and the always entertaining Billy Barty. The Legend of Billie Jean...well, what can you say? Christian Slater's film debut...Peter Coyote, Dean Stcokwell... Throw in a splash of epic teen outlaw martyrdom with a creamy dollop of Pat Benatar and what more can you ask for?

We can't AFFORDto be innocent
Stand up and FACEthe enemy
It's a do or DIE situation
We will be in-vinc-ible!

As an added bonus to the perpetual stream of must-see flicks, bi-weekly Grindhouse and Midnight Movie fests, Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz director Edgar Wright will be guest deejaying at the Bev the first fortnight of December '07, programming such choice morsels as "Phantom of the Paradise," "Flash Gordon," "An American Werewolf in London," "Top Secret!" and "Raising Arizona." Hollywood

I spent a lot of time in Hollywood growing up. It was where I saw movies, got custom decal shirts, had energy drinks and CC Brown's hot fudge sundaes. In those days it was kind of dicey at night. Now it has a prodigious club scene, which kind of takes the edge off. Still, the only "stars" to be seen are the ones on the sidewalk and in the sky.

Saw Borat last Friday, and Babel on Sunday - both searing social commentaries...not!
